CB Radio

By Tony K

While there are newer ways to communicate the old standby, a CB, still has its place.  Its a great way to talk on the trail and keep everyone together.

I found a perfect place for the small Cobra CB I bought just below the stock radio.  It fits in a void that is sometimes filled with a factory tape deck.  At least this place is available in a 60, not so in a 62.

The antennae is mounted outboard of the tail gate but inside the body lines.  I use a short whip antennae with an adjustable tip to get the SWR meter in the right place.  Not too many people have one of these meters but find a way to borrow one rather than buy.  And even though my antennae is in a protected spot I still have broken a couple of them.

Another thing I have found to be useful is that my CB is wired to power seperate from the key switch.  What this means is that it will stay on when I shut off the rig.  A nice feature to have on the trails.
