Tony’s son, Ben, just bought his first Land Cruiser, a 1987 FJ60. This page will document repairs, modifications, upgrades and general up keep from purchasing the used 60 to it’s finished state. Follow along as Ben turns this stock, but capable, wagon into….well, whatever he has in store for it.

During the test drive of Ben’s 60 I noticed some hesitation when accelerating up to about 2000 RPMs. I figured it must just need a tune up and adjustment, nothing I couldn’t handle. Back at the shop, adjusted the timing, cleaned the carb and intake, adjusted mixture and idle, all that good stuff. Operation FJ60 Rescue

After a few months of light looking for 60’s, Ben finally gave the go ahead for full fledge scouting. There were plenty of 60/62’s in the Florida area, some asking way too much for what they had and some were not even worth the look. We needed to find one that was 1) in good running condition 2) as little rust as possible 3) not something to dump loads of money in to bring it up to par.  Read more...
