For a while I have been wondering what the 60 ARB bumper would look like without the upper hoop portion. The main reason why is because I like the stock look of the front end, and would like to have the best of both worlds. I realize that there are a few bumper manufactures that provide these models and variations, but I didn’t want to buy another bumper. After searching around, I didn’t find one that was done, specifically on a 60/62. So, out came the saw and here’s what I ended up with.
Looking to clean it up some, I trimmed away some of the winch upper access, to allow me to recess the control box inside. A much cleaner look.
Since buying the bumper I have never understood why they chose to mount it so high as to cover the factory turn signals. After a lot of thinking and wondering if it’s even possible to lower the bumper without sacrificing strength, finally came up with the solution.
Sectioning out the upper part of the mount was the perfect amount needed to lower it. As for the lower part, I didn’t want to cut off the small horizontal piece due to that is what is providing lateral support for the lower part of the mount.
I therefore cut out a section of the lower part of the bumper so as not to interfere with the bracket mount.
With those sections cut out, two of the exisisting holes already lines up. After re-welding, drilling two more holes in the mount, and painting, the bumper sat exactly where I wanted it, where it should have sat from ARB originally.
