Inspiration and Opinions

You won’t believe just where you can put a wagon, it took Eric to show me. If he is crazy enough to try it, then I am usually dumb enough to follow him.

Extra! Extra!

In case you haven’t seen them, more Wagon Way write-ups have appeared in TLCA’s Toyota Trails!

What? Join the TLCA?

For the longest time I had a hard time defining just why you should spend your hard earned money to belong to the Toyota Landcruiser Association, which on the surface has only one thing in common amongst the members, we all wheel Toyota’s.  And you can’t forget, it also has the most visible benefit, Toyota Trails, the mostly member written magazine/newsletter that you get 6 times a year.  But are these two things enough the keep the international organization alive?  Probably not in today’s changing world.

Trail Repair, Almost

We got a bit of a night run at CTW this year after all.

After getting back to camp at the end of the Friday Run I found out that one of the guys rigs was left in the woods on the Rocky Uphill trail due to a steering issue.  And not a minor one at that.  The sector shaft (thats the one inside the steering box that the pitman arm is attached to) had broken off so there was no way to steer the rig.

Ouch!

Our rigs can bite us in numerous ways and I found another on our recent trip to Cruise the Woods down in Oregon.

I love the fact that my rig has manual steering, no hoses to rupture or pump to fail or belt to break.  But there is one downside.

Generally all it takes is one trip through the woods and you learn to forever keep your thumbs out of the wheel.  All it takes is an errant rock, stump or moments in attention and you will know why.

Project Diesel Lilly, Part 1

By Eric

As with most of the projects that Tony and I do on the wagons, one usually follows suit in some fashion when one improves or modifies something for the better. So there is no surprise that Lilly is shedding her spark plugs for her a diesel engine of her own.
