Wheeling Advice and Know How

We have learnd a few things along the way…. I hope

First Aid Kit

Still being written!

By Tony and Eric

Possibly the most important thing to have in your first aid kit is actually outside the kit, it’s you.  Some sort of first aid training is always money in the bank, especially when something happens.  Check with your local Red Cross chapter for possible training classes.  CPR training should be tucked in there somewhere as well.

CB Radio

By Tony K

While there are newer ways to communicate the old standby, a CB, still has its place.  Its a great way to talk on the trail and keep everyone together.

I found a perfect place for the small Cobra CB I bought just below the stock radio.  It fits in a void that is sometimes filled with a factory tape deck.  At least this place is available in a 60, not so in a 62.

Interior winch controls

By Tony K

All it took was one day in the rain with a traditional remote hanging out the window and I knew there had to be a better way. My solution was to install switches in my console to control my front and rear winches. In the picture, the silver toggles are my winch controls. One for each winch and a master switch so my dog doesn’t operate the winches.  The red light indicates when the winch master switch has been flipped on.

Wheeling with a Fridge

You just may get a chuckle out of the fact that there is a Fridge in the back of my wagon.  But I can guarantee that all it would take is one wheeling trip on a hot day and you will want to know where you can get one.  That’s exactly what happened with two of my fellow wheelers.

A Winch for the Tail

By Tony K and Eric B

You might think this a bit of an extravagance but when you drive a wagon you have to find a way to keep the back of the rig off of the trees and other carnage inducing obstacles. I just use a small 6000 lb winch as its primary use is side pulls not recovery.
