Full Float, Semi-Float Axles

By Tony K

There were two types of axles available on the 60 series, semi float here in the US and Canada and full floats in Australia and other parts of the world. While they do the same thing, mechanically they are very different.

CB Radio

By Tony K

While there are newer ways to communicate the old standby, a CB, still has its place.  Its a great way to talk on the trail and keep everyone together.

I found a perfect place for the small Cobra CB I bought just below the stock radio.  It fits in a void that is sometimes filled with a factory tape deck.  At least this place is available in a 60, not so in a 62.

Snorkel

By Tony K and Eric B

When it comes to fabrication not everything is made of metal.  I made my snorkel out of fiberglass tubing.  I am used to working with it at work and it is relatively easy to repair if it gets totalled on the trail.  Eric made his as well and he didn’t make it out of metal either.  He calls his the Home Depot special as it’s made of Black ABS pipe and dryer ducting with a top from ARB.

Tony’s Camp Trailer

By Tony K

I guess you could say that the start of my metal fabrication was this trailer.  It was made over a winter in the backyard.  I didn’t have many tools at the time, only an AC/DC stick welder, drill, sawzall and a grinder.  And the welder I got just so I could build this thing.  I always liked the WWII style of trailer but I did find some weaknesses in the originals as well as some things I just wanted different so I made my own.  It is loosely based on the Bantam trailers used in WWII.

Aussie Mirrors

By Tony K

Actually they are not Aussie mirrors as the Australians I have heard from say they were never offered down their way.  This style of mirror actually came from Europe.  I really like them while wheeling due to the fact they are a convex mirror that lets me see more of the side of my rig.
