Aussie Mirrors

By Tony K

Actually they are not Aussie mirrors as the Australians I have heard from say they were never offered down their way.  This style of mirror actually came from Europe.  I really like them while wheeling due to the fact they are a convex mirror that lets me see more of the side of my rig.

Some of the complaints about these mirrors include the glass rattling and not staying in position.  But both of these problems are easily fixed.  To fix the rattle gently remove the black frame that holds the mirror in the housing and apply a few small dabs of silicone.  Be sure to reinstall the trim piece before the silicone sets up.

And the fix for the pivot is nothing more than tightening up a nut that applies tension to a spring.  To access this nut you just remove the cover that is held on by 2 small screws.  Tighten it up to apply enough tension that the mirror no longer moves on its own.
