Easter Run

Well not exactly an organized run, just myself enjoying the outdoors. First went to one of the state parks to try out their bike trails, went well. Hadn’t rode my mountain bike in a while so it was good to get back on it and do some trail riding. Made up a bike carrier attachment for my swing out carrier as well, so I got to try that out. It worked out well, need to tweek a few things and then call it good.

Mounted my GoPro HD camera on the bike. Being my downtube is square it made it easy to mount. Video came out good, always interesting to see different point of views you would not normally see. Video Here.

After riding I decided to check out the local beach that allows driving on. Ended up taking a 10 min ferry ride (didnt know there was one) over to where the beach was.

There was a lot of people and cars on the beach. As soon as I got there I saw a car stuck in the water. Apparently the tide comes in faster than people realize and some get caught in it. There were people digging out sand with there hands trying to unstuck this car. I made my way over to them and asked if they wanted help. I ended up parking across from him and using the winch to pull him out. After that one, there were 2 more that needed a pull as well down the way. To make sure I didn’t get into trouble I air’d down to 20psi and locked the hubs. One car was buried up to the top of the wheels. I had to hook up the winch while kneeling in the water. It was a fun time pulling the cars out. ??I drove around afterwards for a bit and then headed back home, with a stop at the car wash of course. Unfortunately I forgot my gopro mount to video the pulls, but later just rested the camera on the dash. Wish I figured that out first, oh well. Video Driving on Beach.

I realized that not everyone has the luxury of airing down their tires when going to the beach and being able to air back up for the drive home. I am sure that is a major cause of vehicle “stuckage”, and of course people being stupid.
