Tony’s Wagon Cave (aka the driveway)

While this thing won’t be updated daily I will try to put those little things in it that really are not worth a write up of their own.  Lump them together, let you chuckle at my expense for the latest dumb things I have to fix.

Oct 25

I have been doing little dumb things to the diesel as usual but the biggest one, adding a 2M radio got a write up of its own so i didn’t think it was worth mentioning.  About the only thing bothering me right now is a persistant small leak of 90 wt from either the t-case or the tranny.  But today I didn’t feel so bad as I pulled the fill plugs on both and neither one was low.  So this is a really slow leak…  Probably nothing to worry about at this point

Sept 8

Drained the tranny and decided to give synthetic gear lube a second chance since I have now fixed the 3rd gear synchro.  It helped that I already had the synthetic lube since I saved it after it was drained the first time with very few miles on it.  We will see….

Finally got around to replacing the brake line I tore out at Rubicon last summer!  Yes I had brakes using a temporary replacement but I finally put the correct line back  in that allows me to flop the caliper onto the spring without disconnecting any thing.  And no I won’t tell you how I managed to rip it out with a tow strap while I was hooked to Eric’s trailer going up Cadillac Hill…..

Also replaced the hardline on the drivers side front axle.  A long time ago the nut on the end that enters the flex line got rounded off and I finally tired of using vise grips to tighten it down.  Bought a new one from Specter.

Checked my glow plugs as well.  Rig is starting a little rough when cold but it wasn’t the glow plugs so I will have to look elsewhere.

Possible rear driveshaft replacement might be in the future, splines are a bit looser than I like.
