While the middle of a wagon is at pretty good height and the front end is really good with the location of the front axle.  The rear end is an entirely different story.  That long overhang is going to bang and smash it’s way over obstacles no matter what you do.

The more time you can spend under your rig the better off you will be.  Doing even the simpliest of tasks creates familiarity with your rig that you can’t get from reading a manual.  It’s also a big help when you have to make a trail fix you won’t feel so overwhelmed.

GPS

Getting around and tracking just where you have been is a lot more fun than it used to be.  GPS technology has gotten a lot cheaper and it is now practical to put it in your rig.  My GPS device of choice is the Garmin 60csx.  I like all the features it has available and where I mounted it makes it easy to access with my hand resting on the shifter.  Having it mounted up high like this means my eyes don’t have to leave the road.
