Injection Pump Woes
By Tony K
Rig has been running great, but now there seems to be an issue with the injection pump. Getting some pretty loud ticking that is rpm related and hearing what may best be described as gear meshing.
Taller Tires
By Tony K
When our rigs are not performing up to par rarely do we look at the tires as the root cause. If you really want to see a drastic improvement in the performance of your rig throw a set of stock tires back on it and see what happens, you will be shocked.
Driveshaft Flange Mix and Match
By Tony K
One of the great things about our wagons is the fact that most parts can be swapped around between the model years, 1981-90, fairly easily, frequently with only having to unbolt the old part and put on a different one. Driveshaft flanges fall into this category.
The U-bolt Dilemna
By Tony K
To re-use leaf spring u-bolts or not? That is the question.
Seems like the most common answer is to never re-use but I want to know why. Seems to be a lot of opinion in this area but opinions are of little help, facts are what I am interested in.
Manual Controls on My Diesel
By Tony K
The electronics on my diesel are starting to show their age and rather than spend a bunch of time and money I am just going to convert the glow plugs and the on/off of the injection pump to full manual control. Push or pull the pump on and a momentary switch for the glow plugs and I will be good to go.
